On April 10, 1882 . . . . .
Dr. Robert Koch published an article entitled Die Aetiolgie der Tuberculose
(The Etiology of Tuberculosis) in which he annouced his discovery of the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis - Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Considered the founder of Bacteriology, Dr. Koch also did extensive work in identifying other bacteria causing anthrax and cholera.
