| 5-HT-3; 5-HT3 receptor subunit E splice variant HTR3Ea; 5-HT3c1; 5-HT3E; 5-HT3R; 5-hydroxytryptamine serotonin receptor 3, family member E; 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3 subunit E; 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 3E; 5HT3c1; 5HT3E; 5HT3R; HTR3; SEROTONIN 5-HT-3E RECEPTOR; serotonin receptor 3 subunit E; Serotonin receptor 3E. |
| HTR3C belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel receptor superfamily. HTR3E is a subunit E of the type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor causes fast, depolarizing responses in neurons after activation. Genes encoding subunits C, D and E form a cluster on chromosome 3. An alternative splice variant has been described but its full length sequence has not been determined. |
