Overview
Catalog # bs-70093R
Product Name Fractin Antibody
Applications WB, IHC, ICC
Specificity Specific for endogenous levels of the ~32 kDa fractin protein. Shows no reactivity toward intact actin. There is often a ladder of smaller bands in cells or culture or in vivo preparations due to further degradation by other proteases. In IHC the antibody detects the processes and cell bodies of degenerating neurons and plaque-associated microglia in Alzheimer's disease.
Reactivity Human, Rat
Specifications
Conjugation Unconjugated
Host Rabbit
Source Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region of the 32 kDa actin fragment.
Clonality Polyclonal
Isotype IgG
Concentration Lot Dependent
Purification Neat whole antiserum
Storage Buffer Neat whole antiserum
Storage Condition Recommended that the undiluted antibody be aliquoted into smaller working volumes (10-30 uL/vial depending on usage) upon arrival and stored long term at -20° C or -80° C, while keeping a working aliquot stored at 4° C for short term. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles. Stable for at least 1 year.
Target
Synonyms Fragment of actin, actin cleavage product
Background Fractin (fragment of actin) is a caspase-specific cleavage product of actin and serves as a novel marker of apoptosis-related events. The antibody has been shown to detect the processes and cell bodies of degenerating neurons and plaque-associated microglia in Alzheimer’s disease (Yang et al., 1998). It has recently been reported that Fractin may have a functional role in apoptotic signaling in oligodendrocytes (Schulz, R., et al., Glia, 2009, in press).
