| Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate
intracellular protozoan parasite, it has been known
associating with severe congenital defects and life
threatening infection in immunocompromised hosts. In
human, T. gondii infection in pregnant women can result
in congenital infection, such as late-onset eye disease, it
is also a frequent cause of encephalitis in AIDS patients;
in animal, the infection can cause a variety diseases and
symptoms. The major surface antigen 1 (SAG1 or P30)
is a good candidate for diagnostic reagent to test T.
gondii antibody IgG and IgM, and subunit vaccine
development. |
